Summer Camp

The Onteora Experience

Each summer, Troop 690 spends one unforgettable week at resident camp in the beautiful Catskill Mountains of New York. Summer camp combines outdoor adventure with opportunities to earn merit badges, challenge yourself with new experiences, and enjoy activities that simply are not available during the rest of the year. Whether you are attending camp for the first time or returning for another summer, it is an experience every Scout looks forward to.

Outdoor Adventure

Summer camp gives Scouts the opportunity to participate in activities that simply are not available during regular troop meetings or at home. From swimming and boating to archery, rifle shooting, climbing, and countless other outdoor programs, camp provides exciting experiences that cannot be replicated anywhere else.

Merit Badges

Camp is one of the best opportunities to make significant progress toward the 21 merit badges required for the rank of Eagle Scout. Scouts can also earn badges that are rarely offered on Long Island while learning from experienced merit badge counselors in a hands-on outdoor environment.

Onteora Scout Reservation

Located in Livingston Manor, New York, in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, Onteora Scout Reservation is home to Scouting America Long Island's summer camp. Each year, more than 1,000 Scouts enjoy a program featuring over 85 merit badges across 17 diverse program areas, including welding, robotics, space exploration, environmental science, search and rescue, metalwork, and much more.
